Kevkin Innovations LLP (“Kevkin Innovations”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the mobile application Recipe Generator From Photo (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your information when you use the App, and describes the rights and choices available to you.
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
This Privacy Policy is written to comply with the Apple App Store Review Guidelines, Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) requirements, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable data protection laws.
Section 1 · The short version
At a glance
- No account required. You can use the App without creating an account, signing in, or providing your name or email.
- Photos you take or select are used to generate recipes. Images of your ingredients/food are transmitted to our secure backend and to our AI processing provider to identify ingredients and generate recipes. We do not use your photos to identify you.
- We use a device identifier to enforce free-trial limits and to secure our API. This is not linked to your real-world identity.
- We show ads (via Google AdMob) and offer paid subscriptions (processed by Apple and managed via RevenueCat).
- We use analytics (Google Firebase Analytics) to understand app performance and usage.
- You are in control of tracking. On iOS, personalized advertising only occurs if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
2Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information. We only collect what is needed to operate, secure, and improve the App.
2.1 Photos and camera content you provide
The core function of the App is to generate recipes from photos of ingredients or food.
- Camera access: With your permission, the App accesses your device camera so you can capture photos of ingredients for recipe generation and ingredient scanning.
- Photo library access: With your permission, the App accesses your photo library so you can select existing images of ingredients.
- How the images are used: When you generate a recipe or scan ingredients, the selected or captured image (and/or data derived from it) is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our backend servers and to our AI processing provider (Google) to detect ingredients and produce recipe suggestions.
We do not perform facial recognition, and we do not use your photos to identify you as an individual. We access only the specific images you choose to submit; we do not scan or upload your entire photo library.
2.2 Ingredient, pantry, and recipe data
- Ingredients you type, add to your pantry, or select.
- Dietary preferences (for example, vegetarian/non-vegetarian, selected cuisines, ignored items).
- Recipes you generate, view, save, or interact with, and shopping lists you create.
Much of this content is stored locally on your device. Ingredient and preference data associated with a generation request is transmitted to our backend and AI provider to fulfill that request.
2.3 Device and technical information
- Device identifier: We generate or read a device identifier and use it (in an encrypted request header) to (a) enforce free-trial usage limits and (b) authenticate requests to our API so they cannot be tampered with. This works without any login or account.
- Device information: Device model, operating system and version, app version, bundle identifier, language/region, and similar technical attributes.
- Diagnostic and performance data: Crash information, error logs, and app performance metrics used to keep the App stable.
2.4 Usage and analytics data
Through Google Firebase Analytics, we collect information about how the App is used, such as screens viewed, features used, session length, in-app events, approximate/coarse usage patterns, and aggregated engagement metrics. This helps us understand what works and improve the App.
2.5 Advertising data
The App displays advertising through Google AdMob. Depending on your consent choices and device settings, advertising partners may collect:
- Advertising identifiers (for example, Apple's IDFA on iOS), where permitted.
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks).
- Coarse/technical data used to select and measure ads.
On iOS, access to the IDFA and cross-app/website tracking for personalized advertising only occurs if you grant permission through the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized/contextual.
2.6 Subscription and purchase data
If you purchase a subscription:
- Payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your credit card number, full payment details, or Apple ID password.
- We use RevenueCat to manage and validate your subscription entitlement. RevenueCat receives a purchase/transaction identifier, product identifier, subscription status, and an anonymized app-user identifier so we can determine whether your premium features should be unlocked.
2.7 Locally stored data
Some data is stored only on your device (using local storage, secure storage, and cached files), including your saved recipes, pantry items, preferences, trial-usage counters, and cached images. This data generally stays on your device unless it is part of a request you initiate (such as generating a recipe).
3How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide the core functionality of the App — detecting ingredients from photos and generating recipes.
- Enforce free-trial limits and unlock premium/subscription features.
- Authenticate and secure requests to our servers and prevent abuse, fraud, and tampering.
- Display and measure advertising, and (with consent) personalize ads.
- Process and validate subscriptions and restore purchases.
- Analyze usage, diagnose problems, fix bugs, and improve performance and features.
- Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
Legal bases (GDPR/UK GDPR). Where applicable, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the App and features you request); your consent (for camera/photo access, App Tracking Transparency, and personalized advertising); legitimate interests (to secure the App, prevent fraud, and improve our services); and legal obligations.
5App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS devices, the App uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. Before any tracking for personalized advertising occurs, you will be shown a system prompt asking for permission.
- If you allow tracking, advertising partners may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to deliver and measure personalized ads.
- If you deny tracking, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. Core app functionality is unaffected.
You can change this choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.
6Your choices and controls
- Camera and Photos permissions: You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device Settings. Revoking them may limit photo-based recipe generation.
- Tracking/Advertising: Manage via the App Tracking Transparency prompt and device privacy settings, or reset your advertising identifier in device settings.
- Subscriptions: Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions).
- Local data: You can clear locally stored data by deleting the App. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored content from your device.
7Your privacy rights
7.1 European Economic Area / United Kingdom (GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to: access your personal data; request correction or erasure; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
7.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect and how it is used and shared; request access to or deletion of your personal information; correct inaccurate information; and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (including cross-context behavioral advertising). We do not sell personal information for money. To exercise the right to opt out of “sharing” for personalized advertising, decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt and/or adjust your device settings. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7.3 How to exercise your rights
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@kevkin.com. Because the App does not require an account, we may need certain information (such as your device identifier or purchase receipt) to locate and verify data associated with your device before acting on a request.
8Data retention
- Locally stored data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Images submitted for AI processing are used to fulfill your request and are retained only as long as necessary to provide and improve the service, subject to our providers' retention practices. We do not use submitted photos to build advertising profiles.
- Trial-usage and device identifiers are retained as needed to enforce trial limits and secure our API.
- Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the retention settings of Google Firebase Analytics and AdMob.
- Subscription records are retained as needed for entitlement validation, support, tax, and legal compliance.
When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.
9Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) transmission of data to our servers, encrypted request headers to prevent tampering, and secure on-device storage for sensitive values. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10International data transfers
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country or region, including in countries that may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for such transfers. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in such locations.
11Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@kevkin.com and we will take steps to delete such information.
12Third-party links and content
The App may contain links to third-party websites, services, or content (for example, advertisements or store links). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.
13Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
